在前一篇文章中，我們已經談過，"small talk" 的兩大重點，就是開放式問答和以對方為本的態度。但就算了解了技巧，想不出聊天話題，對話就永遠無法開始！

1. 問候

如果你和對方完全是初次見面，不妨就從問候開始破冰：

Ａ：How are you doing? 

你今天過得如何？ 

B：I'm good, thanks. How about you? 

還不錯，謝謝。你呢？ 

Ａ：I'm doing well, thanks. Have you been enjoying the event so far? 

我也覺得不錯，謝謝你問我。你覺得這場活動如何，還喜歡嗎？

Good morning/afternoon/evening, how's your day going so far? 

早安／午安／晚安，你今天過的怎麼樣呢？

A：Good afternoon, how's your day going so far?

午安，你今天過的怎麼樣呢？ 

B：It's been pretty good, thanks. How about you? 

很好，謝謝。你呢？ 

A：Can't complain. So, have you had a chance to attend any of the sessions yet? 

還好。是說你之前有參加過這種活動嗎？

如果之前有過一面之緣，不妨用這句話來表示你的重逢之情：

A：It's great to see you again! 

很高興又和你見面了！

B：Oh, hi! It's great to see you too! How have you been?

喔，嗨！我也很開心看到你！你最近好嗎？

A：I've been good, thanks for asking. How about you?

我很好，謝謝你關心。你呢？

2. 天氣

或許天氣的話題相較起來是有點沉悶，但如果你一時找不到合適的問題，也可以先拿來救救場：

A：Nice weather we're having today, isn't it? 

今天的天氣可真不錯，不是嗎？

B：Yes, it's a nice change from the heat we had last week. Have you been able to get outside and enjoy it? 

對啊，和上禮拜的高溫相比，現在變得很舒服。你最近有機會出去玩，好好享受這天氣了嗎？

A：Did you hear about the storm that's coming this weekend? 

你有聽說這禮拜會有暴風雨嗎？ 

B：Yes, I did. I hope it doesn't interfere with my plans to go camping. Have you made any plans for the weekend? 

我有聽說，希望這場暴風雨不會影響到我的露營計畫。你已經想好這周末要做什麼了嗎？

A：I wish it would stop raining already!

我希望雨不要再下了。

B：I know, right? I'm getting tired of carrying around an umbrella everywhere I go. Have you tried any new indoor activities to pass the time during the rainy weather? 

我懂！我已經厭倦去哪裡都得帶著雨傘了。你有在雨天嘗試什麼新的室內運動來打發時間嗎？

3. 個人

在閒聊時，可以問一些和對方相關的問題，但要避免太深入，以免讓對方感到不舒服，或是覺得隱私受到侵犯。

Ａ：Where are you originally from? 

你是哪裡人？ 

B：I'm originally from New York City. And how about you? 

我是紐約人，你呢？

Ａ：How long have you been living in this city? 

你住在這裡多久了？ 

B：I've been living here for about 5 years now. How about you?

我住在這裡大概五年了，你呢？

Ａ：What kind of food do you like to eat? 

你喜歡吃哪種類型的食物？ 

B：I'm a big fan of Italian food, especially pizza and pasta. How about you? What's your favorite type of cuisine? 

我超愛吃義大利料理，尤其是披薩和義大利麵。你呢？你最喜歡哪國菜？

Ａ：Do you have any pets? 

你有養寵物嗎？

B：Yes, I have a dog named Charlie. He's a golden retriever. Do you have any pets? 

有，我的狗狗叫查理，牠是黃金獵犬。那你有寵物嗎？

4. 穿搭

稱讚同事的穿搭風格，或是以對方新買的配件為話題開頭，不僅安全，也能體現出你對他的注意。不過也要記得態度不要太誇張，也不要評論對方的長相，以免反而變得失禮哦！

Ａ：I love your outfit, where did you get it? 

我喜歡你的衣服，你在哪裡買的？ 

 💡 outfit 可以代換成其他衣物或配件，例如 scarf, shoes, bag 等等

B：Thank you! I actually got this dress on sale at a boutique downtown. 

謝謝！我在市中心的一家精品店買的，這件洋裝有打折。 

Ａ：Oh, I love finding great deals. Do you have any other favorite stores in the area? 

喔，我超愛優惠的。你在那邊還有其他愛店嗎？

Ａ：You look really nice today! 

你今天真好看！

B：Thank you so much, you too! How's your day going so far? 

謝謝，你今天看起來也很不錯！你今天過得還好嗎？

Ａ：I really like your shoes. Are they expensive?

我真的很喜歡你的鞋子，會很貴嗎？ 

B：Thank you! Actually, they were a great find at a thrift store. 

謝謝！其實我是在二手店買的。 

Ａ: No way! They look brand new. Do you like thrifting? I've been meaning to try it out but haven't had the chance yet. 

真的嗎？它們看起來很新欸。你喜歡逛二手商店嗎？我一直想試試看，但還沒機會。

5. 娛樂

可以單純詢問興趣，或是選擇一項娛樂活動，進而詢問對方是否了解時下流行的某些資訊。例如：

A：What do you like to do for fun? 

你的興趣是什麼？ 

B：I love hiking and exploring new places. How about you? 

我喜歡健行和去新的地方，你呢？

A：Same here! I also enjoy playing board games with friends and trying out new restaurants. 

我也喜歡，我還喜歡和朋友一起玩桌遊，也喜歡嘗試新餐廳。

A：Have you read any good books lately? 

你最近有讀過哪些好書嗎？ 

B：Yes, I just finished a really interesting memoir. What about you? 

有，我最近剛讀完一本有趣的回憶錄，你呢？ 

A：I've been really into thriller novels lately. Any recommendations? 

我最近蠻喜歡驚悚小說，你有推薦的嗎？

A：Do you have a favorite TV show or movie? 

你有最喜歡的電視劇或電影嗎？

B：I'm a big fan of crime dramas. What about you? 

我超愛看犯罪影集，你呢？ 

A：Same here! I also enjoy comedies and sci-fi movies. Have you seen any good ones recently?

我也是！我還喜歡喜劇和科幻電影，你最近有看到什麼好看的作品嗎？
